About This Seminar

When a bright child has difficulty reading, we may think that it is a learning disability or a problematic instructional strategy. Or it could be an impact of media learning. Literacy experts have identified an emerging phenomenon in the developed world: “Post-Literacy.” According to a number of studies, numerous children who have grown up in a highly literate society are functionally illiterate. They can read and write, but they prefer to learn through non-literate means. In this seminar, we will explore Post-Literacy and its impacts on learning.

Ben Davis

Ben Davis was homeschooled from kindergarten through grade 12. In 2007 and 2009, he completed a BA and a MA in communication from Bob Jones University. During his senior year of college, he began contributing back to the homeschool community by teaching a course on competitive speech. After completing his Masters in Communication, Ben began coaching a local homeschool debate club in the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (NCFCA). Today, Ben continues to pursue his passion for excellence in education within the homeschool community by administering Christian Homeschool Advancement Resources and Training (CHART) at BJU Press.
